Michael Simkins LLP has advised BMG Music Publishing on the acquisition of Complete Music Limited from Iain McNay and Martin Costello.
Founded in 1984, the Complete Music catalogue includes many great songs from the 1960’s through to the 1990’s from writers and artists such as The Stranglers, Buzzcocks, Everything But The Girl, The The, Sir Malcolm Arnold and Primal Scream.
For BMG Music Publishing, the Simkins team comprised Euan Lawson, Joss Alcraft and Ed Baden-Powell. Russell Roberts and Charlotte Fox of Sheridans acted for Iain McNay and Martin Costello.
Euan Lawson, who joined Simkins in April this year from Addleshaw Goddard, commented:
“We were delighted to be instructed by BMG Music Publishing on this deal. It was a great way to mark our arrival at Simkins and it demonstrates how we intend to continue, combining our City lawyering skills with in-depth knowledge of the music business. And who could resist the appeal of being involved in the acquisition of classic songs like Golden Brown and Ever Fallen In Love?”
