We are delighted to announce the appointment of Oliver Smith as a partner in our Dispute Resolution Group with effect from 18 May 2009.
Oliver joins us from Rosenblatt where as a partner he developed a successful practice in media and financial services litigation, including defamation, IP, data protection and privacy, UK and EU competition law, hostile takeovers, and market abuse. Some recent cases include a fiduciary duty claim involving a £500 million hotel fund, a libel claim against a leading fund manager allegedly involving market abuse, and a precedent-setting trade mark claim against one of the world’s largest retailers.

Oliver's appointment comes only a month after the recruitment into the Dispute Resolution Group of ex-Ofcom lawyer, Eleanor Steyn, and the appointment of Robert Allan as a partner in the Commercial Group.
