Companies in the recruitment sector are probably amongst the most sophisticated in their procedures for enforcing restrictive covenants and are not averse to resorting to the courts to injunct departing employees. Over the last eighteen months many disputes have been particularly hard fought around the issue of who is entitled to control an employee’s LinkedIn account upon their departure. To date this question has not reached trial in the UK, or even the US, courts but there are clues in the existing cases that give us a good idea of how the English courts will approach this issue.
Michael Simkins LLP is delighted to team up with Saffery Champness and LinkedIn expert, Mark Williams to present a free seminar answering many of the questions that arise. The one hour seminar will be split into two parts. In the first part, Mark Williams, will explain how to maximise employee use of LinkedIn specifically within the recruitment sector. In the second part confidentiality expert Nicola McCormick will answer the key legal questions that arise.

What processes and controls do you have in place to ensure that your consultants time on LinkedIn is productive and do you have a consistent approach throughout your business?
Nicola McCormick: Who controls your employees' LinkedIn accounts? Can you encourage use of networking sites but maintain control over your database of clients and candidates? What measures can you take to minimise legal arguments about this issue upon an employee's departure?
