Michael founded The Simkins Partnership in 1963 at a time when media law was in its infancy. He began his career as one of the first specialist music lawyers. He subsequently switched to concentrate on film and theatre work. Michael enjoys the challenge of devising and negotiating deals for clients in the entertainment industry and in recent years has concentrated on the structure of international film finance.

He is regularly consulted by some of the leading figures in the media world.
