Richard works for corporate clients from music industry associations, through recording and music publishing businesses to live music and other agencies. He also represents high net worth individuals (including non-media celebrities in the worlds of architecture and industrial design) with an increasing focus on branding and image rights. In the music industry he has represented numerous managers, record producers and both established and developing artists. He has a keen interest in new media. He deals with structures for personal services both nationally and internationally, especially concerning the rights based aspects of such arrangements.
Richard is an experienced speaker. He has chaired numerous panels and contributes to, or arranges attendances by Simkins lawyers at, business affairs workshops for organisations such as the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and the Music Managers' Forum. He is legal adviser to the International Live Music Conference, the annual London convention for the live music industry, and is a member of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers.
